The White House in the United States has confirmed that NVIDIA and AMD have struck a deal where they are required to remit 15% of their chip sales revenue in China to the US government in exchange for export licenses for their relevant products. Earlier reports suggested that this arrangement was a precondition for the US to allow these two companies to resume selling AI chips to China. A White House spokesperson clarified that, for now, the agreement solely involves NVIDIA and AMD but may potentially extend to other enterprises in the future.
