A recent preprint paper published by The Register has shed light on an intriguing trend: American software developers are leading the world in the adoption of AI programming assistants. By analyzing 80 million code records on GitHub spanning from 2018 to 2024, the research team discovered that a staggering 30.1% of the Python code submitted by US developers in 2024 was authored by AI. This figure stands out significantly when compared to other nations, including Germany (24.3%), France (23.2%), India (21.6%), Russia (15.4%), and China (11.7%). This widespread use of AI in coding has contributed to an annual value generation of $10 billion in the US.
