The South Korean government has ambitious plans to pour over 16 trillion won into artificial intelligence infrastructure over the next five years, with the ultimate goal of positioning South Korea among the world's top three AI superpowers. This significant investment will be directed towards acquiring 50,000 cutting-edge GPUs, constructing AI data centers, fostering AI talent, and developing indigenous AI models. Furthermore, the government has designated AI data centers as national strategic technology facilities, offering tax incentives and enhancing the capabilities of the National AI Committee. Concurrently, a dedicated AI policy office will be established to holistically drive the advancement of the AI industry in South Korea.
