Microsoft is contemplating terminating negotiations with OpenAI if a consensus cannot be reached on pivotal matters, including Microsoft's prospective equity stake in OpenAI. Initially, OpenAI proposed to exchange approximately 33% of the equity in the restructured division in exchange for Microsoft relinquishing its future profit distribution rights.
