Deutsche Telekom, SAP, Ionos, Schwarz, and other prominent companies are seeking financial backing from the European Union to construct a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence data processing center in Germany. This ambitious project is part of the European Union's initiative to establish five "AI superfactories" across the continent. The ultimate aim of this endeavor is to empower the European Union to develop autonomous AI models that can compete on par with those of the United States and China. Nonetheless, the project is confronted with an array of challenges, ranging from securing chip supplies to selecting an appropriate site and ensuring a reliable power supply.
As per an agreement with the German government, the objective is to establish at least one such center within Germany. Interested parties must submit a preliminary letter of intent to the European Union by June 20th. While Ionos has manifested its interest in contributing to this groundbreaking project, several issues still need to be addressed and resolved before the project can move forward.
