For two consecutive days, protests disrupted Microsoft's Build 2025 developer conference in Seattle. During a presentation by Executive Vice President of Core AI, Jay Parikh, who was introducing the Azure AI Foundry project, a Palestinian technician interrupted the proceedings. The technician protested Microsoft's contracts with the Israeli government and called for the severance of ties with Israel. The protester was subsequently escorted out of the venue.
The protest was organized by No Azure for Apartheid, a group that has recently staged multiple protests targeting Microsoft employees. In response, Microsoft has stated that its relationship with the Israeli Defense Ministry is based on standard commercial terms and that it has found no evidence that its technology is being used to harm others or violate its terms of service.
