OpenAI recently announced the direct availability of GPT-4.1 on ChatGPT, which was previously limited to developers through API access. Tailored for coding tasks and adhering strictly to instructions, GPT-4.1 was intended to supersede the o3 and o4-mini models. Despite users' high hopes for its capabilities, testing has unveiled that the maximum context length of GPT-4.1 within ChatGPT is markedly inferior to what was advertised for the API version, fostering a sense of dissatisfaction among the user base.
