The European Union has announced plans to invest a staggering €20 billion in the construction of multiple AI superfactories. These facilities are aimed at enhancing innovation capabilities across sectors including healthcare, biotechnology, and industry, ultimately boosting Europe's competitiveness in the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence. Currently, the United States and China dominate this landscape, prompting the EU to strive for parity by establishing superfactories equipped with more than 100,000 processors.

In parallel, the EU is contemplating simplifying the Artificial Intelligence Act to streamline regulatory hurdles. This proposal, however, has ignited a debate, as it raises questions about balancing innovation with responsible AI development. The project is committed to sustainability, relying primarily on green energy and recycling cooling water. Nevertheless, concerns persist regarding the potential high energy consumption, which could pose environmental challenges.
