On October 21, according to AXIOS, OpenAI is bringing its AI models and Codex programming tools to Google Cloud, thereby expanding its service reach to cover customers of the three major cloud service providers in the US, including companies that compete with OpenAI. For OpenAI, this move opens up new channels to reach enterprise customers, who can use its services without directly engaging with the ChatGPT maker. For Google, it presents an opportunity to bundle its competitor's AI models with its own Gemini products, potentially capturing market share that might have otherwise gone to other cloud service providers. Under the agreement announced on Wednesday, Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI's advanced models through Google's 'Model Garden and Marketplace' platform and pay using existing cloud spending commitments. Additionally, the agreement introduces OpenAI models to Google's Antigravity development environment and Gemini Agent, with related features expected to be fully operational in the coming weeks.
