On October 21, a draft prospectus for Anthropic's IPO, disclosed by The Wall Street Journal, revealed that the company's revenue reached $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 1382%. However, it reported a net loss of $80.7 billion, with $72 billion stemming from accounting adjustment expenses rather than actual cash outflows. During the same period, the company spent nearly $9 billion on computing power and infrastructure, surpassing the total for the entire year of 2025. Over the next 7 to 10 years, Anthropic will be required to pay approximately $450 billion under cloud computing agreements, most of which are non-cancellable. Combined with other commitments for computing power leasing, the total infrastructure costs have exceeded $600 billion. Despite rapid revenue growth, the massive losses and the rigid expenditures from long-term computing power commitments create uncertainty regarding its ability to sustain access to computing power.
