On October 15, Chris Turner, an analyst at ING Group, pointed out in a report that despite the U.S. inflation data released on Wednesday exceeding expectations, both the dollar and U.S. Treasury yields gave back their earlier gains due to heightened market concerns over the debt burden in the AI sector. Turner noted that the dollar did not rise due to safe-haven demand but instead weakened as the market lowered expectations for further U.S. interest rate hikes. Meanwhile, the narrowing interest rate differential between Switzerland and the rest of the world benefited the Swiss franc. Turner anticipates that investors will continue to monitor the debt conditions of major AI bond issuers today, with any further sell-offs likely to exert pressure on the dollar.
