According to multiple sources, Japan's NTT Data Group is in final negotiations with U.S. AI company Anthropic to construct a data center in Osaka. The data center, to be located in Osaka Prefecture, is expected to cost up to 1 trillion yen (approximately $6.3 billion) and will become Anthropic's first dedicated facility in Japan. Both parties aim to sign an agreement within fiscal 2026 (ending March next year) and plan to bring part of it into operation as early as 2028.
