On August 21 local time, OpenAI announced that it will reduce the API and credit pricing for the GPT-5.6 Sol model by more than 20% over the next three months. The price reduction has already taken effect through the API and will be gradually extended to eligible ChatGPT Work and Codex credit packages, while prices for Pro, Plus, and Business subscription users remain unchanged. Previously, global AI aggregation platform OpenRouter and hosting platform Vercel had already announced a 50% reduction in the calling fees for GPT-5.6 Sol, with Vercel's limited-time promotion lasting until September 18. Additionally, on July 31, OpenAI had already reduced the prices of GPT-5.6 Luna and Terra by 80% and 20%, respectively.
