According to Microsoft’s financial report for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, the company reported a revenue of $90 billion and a net profit of $35.8 billion. A standout highlight was the $3.2 billion gain from its investment in Anthropic, which contributed to a $0.33 increase in earnings per share. In contrast, a $600 million write-down on its investment in OpenAI resulted in a $0.07 decrease in earnings per share. Nevertheless, Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI still produced a $5 billion gain for the entire fiscal year. In November 2025, Microsoft made a $5 billion investment in Anthropic, with the latter agreeing to purchase $30 billion worth of Azure cloud services. Microsoft currently holds around a 27% stake in OpenAI, and the collaborative framework between the two companies has evolved since April 2026.
