On July 26th, Chey Tae-won, the head of SK Hynix, stated that South Korea should become an 'AI-native country' with the goal of ensuring that every individual possesses at least one AI agent. If this goal is achieved, South Korea will become a global testing ground for AI technology, fostering experimentation and application of AI technologies. He mentioned that SK Group will continue to invest in research and development to drive AI advancement. Meanwhile, Chey Tae-won emphasized the importance of reducing AI costs, pointing out that current AI costs are too high and need to be lowered through various means to benefit more people. He suggested that South Korea could reduce costs by expanding memory chip production and increasing the construction of AI data centers, while also establishing a global AI data center hub connecting the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
