On July 14 (local time), OpenAI issued a response, asserting that there is no factual evidence to substantiate the trade secret lawsuit brought against it by Apple. OpenAI emphasized that while it takes the allegations seriously, it firmly upholds the principles of fair competition and the free movement of talent, and will remain dedicated to advancing its own innovative technologies.
Earlier, Apple had initiated legal action against OpenAI, alleging that the latter had gained access to trade secrets pertaining to AI hardware devices by hiring former Apple employees. Apple further claimed that some of these employees had unlawfully obtained internal engineering documents prior to their departure, which were then used to aid in the development of OpenAI's next-generation AI hardware. In response, OpenAI has unequivocally stated that it has no interest in the trade secrets of other companies and is committed to independent research and development.
