Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank Group, stated at the annual corporate meeting that the notion of a bubble forming in the AI sector is utterly absurd. He predicted that by 2040, AI development will require $5 trillion in investment annually, a scale that will be feasible as AI-generated revenue accounts for 20% of global GDP by that time. Meanwhile, he forecasted that by 2040, global AI data centers will require 3 terawatts of electricity generation, equivalent to 1.8 times the current global total electricity consumption.
