On July 13, reports indicated that the State Council had recently given the green light to the “15th Five-Year Plan for Expanding Consumption”. This plan places a strong emphasis on fostering the high-quality development of digital consumption, propelling forward the “Artificial Intelligence + Consumption” model, and executing measures to boost digital consumption. To expand digital product consumption, the plan suggests ramping up the effective supply of next-generation intelligent terminal products, including AI-powered smartphones, computers, smart wearable gadgets, intelligent robots, and 3D printing equipment. Simultaneously, it calls for expediting the research and development of intelligent security systems and video care systems to ensure seamless interoperability, and launching pilot programs for the market access and on-road operations of intelligent connected vehicles. When it comes to digital service consumption, the plan encourages leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality to enhance everyday life services and enrich the experiences in scenic areas. It also promotes the integrated application of AI across various sectors, including education, healthcare, culture, tourism, sports, and beyond. Furthermore, the plan advocates for pioneering digital content consumption by introducing a wider array of high-quality digital cultural and museum offerings, enhancing the availability of ultra-high-definition content, and fostering the development of new formats, such as virtual reality films and LED digital cinemas.
