Ben Bernanke, the former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, has been named a member of the 'Long-Term Benefit Trust' at AI firm Anthropic. This trust is dedicated to ensuring that the company remains true to its public-serving mission. In his new capacity, Bernanke will offer expert counsel on matters pertaining to the societal repercussions of AI. He holds the power to appoint and dismiss board members and will also provide strategic advice to senior management on critical issues, particularly those concerning AI-related risks. Bernanke currently serves as a Distinguished Fellow at the Brookings Institution. His illustrious career includes leading the Federal Reserve in the aftermath of the 2008 global financial crisis, chairing the Economics Department at Princeton University, and being honored with the Nobel Prize in Economics.
