As reported by PCmag, Norway is set to enforce a comprehensive ban on the use of generative AI tools in primary schools, starting from the new academic term in late August 2026. This prohibition will apply to students aged 6 to 13, ensuring they remain free from AI-related distractions during their foundational years of education. For junior high school students, aged 14 to 16, the use of AI tools will be strictly regulated, allowing only under the direct and vigilant supervision of teachers. Meanwhile, senior high school students, aged 17 to 19, will be encouraged to learn and master the appropriate use of AI, equipping them with essential skills for their future academic pursuits and professional endeavors. This move by Norway reflects a broader, global trend towards caution and regulation in the integration of AI within educational settings.
