In the inaugural developer beta release of iOS 27, Apple has unveiled a cutting-edge iteration of its AI dictation capabilities, specifically tailored for models like the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. However, this feature is not automatically activated upon installation. Users are required to navigate to 'Settings > General > Keyboard' and manually enable the 'Advanced Dictation Preview' within the dictation settings. This innovative feature boasts offline functionality, leveraging local AI models to achieve exceptional accuracy in converting speech to text. It adeptly manages punctuation and capitalization, ensuring seamless integration across all voice input scenarios on the system keyboard, and elevates the overall Siri interaction experience. The compatible devices encompass the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air, second-generation Vision Pro (featuring the M5 chip), iPads equipped with an M4 chip or later and a minimum of 12GB RAM, as well as Mac devices powered by an M3 chip or newer and at least 12GB of memory.
