Last week, the US government received a notification from Amazon's cybersecurity engineers and promptly issued an export control directive. This directive mandated that Anthropic (referred to as Company A) cease providing the Claude Fable 5 model to any non-US citizens. The rationale behind this move was that Amazon's cybersecurity team had identified vulnerabilities in the model's security framework. These flaws could potentially enable unauthorized access to sensitive content by circumventing security barriers through specific techniques. In light of compliance requirements, Anthropic opted to remove the Claude Fable 5 model from global availability.
