On June 10, 2026, the South Korean examination authority reported that two examinees cheated in the TOEIC exams on May 10 and 31 using AI-powered smart glasses. Their scores were invalidated, and they were banned from taking exams for the next four years. These glasses integrate a camera, microphone, and generative AI, enabling them to analyze visuals and transmit answers. Some models are virtually indistinguishable from ordinary glasses to the naked eye. Currently, the South Korean examination authority is conducting specialized training to enhance the identification capabilities of proctors, and the education department is considering banning such devices in the college entrance exam.
