On June 3, data released by ChineseAll revealed that AI-powered short dramas have taken the lead as the primary driver of token consumption. According to insights shared by ChineseAll during recent institutional briefings, AI short dramas and video generation collectively represent the largest share of token usage in China, accounting for a significant 55%. This is followed by e-commerce and marketing activities—including live-stream commerce and advertising—which make up 24% of total token consumption.
Despite initial optimism in the software development sector, fueled by the rise of tools like Claude and the Vibe Coding trend, its share of token consumption remains comparatively modest at just 15%. Notably, the token consumption volume for AI short dramas and video generation now surpasses that of software development by more than twofold, solidifying its position as the cornerstone of the token economy.
