Recently, JD released an internal memo outlining significant leadership reshuffles within its AI division. The company has appointed Wang Jiaqi as the director of the Natural Language Processing Laboratory at the Exploration Research Institute, and Huang Haoyang as the director of the Image and Multimodal Laboratory. Both directors will report directly to Deputy Dean Duan Nan.
Wang Jiaqi, who joined JD in August 2025, played a pivotal role in advancing the JoyAI-VL series models to industry-leading standards. Meanwhile, Huang Haoyang, who came on board in June 2025, led his team in the development and open-sourcing of the JoyAI-Image series models.
This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the technological prowess of the Exploration Research Institute and carving out a unique competitive edge in the market.
