On May 11, the Tsinghua News Network reported that Liu Ziwen, an assistant professor at the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center of Tsinghua University, along with Fang Kun, an assistant professor from the School of Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), has achieved remarkable advancements in the realm of quantum information and computational theory research. The collaborative research team introduced an innovative quantum distillation protocol rooted in quantum catalysis. This approach is versatile and can be applied to a wide range of quantum resources. For the first time, the team successfully implemented constant overhead quantum distillation in a 'one-shot' context, thereby transcending previously established theoretical boundaries. This breakthrough is anticipated to substantially boost the efficiency of fault-tolerant quantum computing. The related research findings were published in Nature Communications on May 4.
