The relevant department has taken down specifics from its official website concerning the safety vulnerability testing agreements for artificial intelligence models, which were previously established with Google, xAI, and Microsoft. Earlier, the links that directed users to the announcements about these testing protocols were rendered inactive and now lead to the website of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Standards and Innovation. On May 5, the U.S. Department of Commerce declared that companies would be required to subject their new AI models to safety vulnerability tests conducted by government scientists prior to their public release. The U.S. government is apprehensive about the potential risks that highly advanced AI systems could pose to national security and aims to secure early access to these cutting-edge models in order to proactively identify and mitigate various threats. At present, the rationale behind the removal of this information from the website is still unknown, and neither the U.S. Department of Commerce nor the spokesperson for the Trump White House has issued any statements in response to inquiries for comment.
