South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT has officially chosen a consortium, spearheaded by Samsung SDS, as the private sector collaborator for the ambitious “National AI Computing Center” initiative. Boasting a substantial total investment of 2.5 trillion won, the project is set to establish a public-private joint venture company in the second quarter of this year, with construction slated to kick off in the following quarter. By 2028, it is projected that around 15,000 cutting-edge AI semiconductor units will be installed. Once operational, the center aims to supply essential computing resources at affordable rates to small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and academic institutions across South Korea, fostering innovation and growth in the AI sector.
