On May 5, Bloomberg reported that Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of OpenAI, testified in court that his stake in the ChatGPT developer is now worth nearly $30 billion (approximately RMB 204.9 billion). This information was brought up during cross-examination by Elon Musk's lawyers, as Musk is suing OpenAI for allegedly improperly transforming into a for-profit enterprise and abandoning its charitable goals. Musk's team believes that Brockman's financial interests may affect his independence, leading him to support CEO Altman, who is driving the company's transformation. Brockman also disclosed that he holds stakes in two startups invested in by Altman and a portion of Altman's family fund. Currently, the trial has entered its second week, and the outcome may determine the future of OpenAI. Since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, OpenAI has raised over $100 billion in funding for expansion and preparation for an IPO. Musk is seeking to remove Altman and Brockman from their leadership positions and is claiming $150 billion in damages.
