At this Wednesday’s Google Cloud Next conference, Google revealed its plan to integrate intelligent agent capabilities, including “Auto Browse” features, into the enterprise edition of the Chrome browser, along with bolstered security measures. This functionality enables business users to utilize the Gemini model to comprehend real-time webpage content on the active tab, with AI agents carrying out web-based tasks such as travel reservations, data entry, and meeting scheduling. Users must review and approve the actions suggested by the AI, retaining ultimate decision-making power. This move is designed to speed up mundane operational tasks, allowing employees to dedicate more time to strategic initiatives. Initially, the new feature will be accessible to Workspace users in the United States, with enterprise administrators able to activate it through policy settings. Google has also pledged that user-provided prompts will not be employed to train AI models. Furthermore, business users of Chrome can save commonly used workflows as “Skills” for rapid future use. Regarding security, Google has strengthened its ability to detect and manage unauthorized AI tools via Chrome Enterprise Premium and has expanded its partnership with Okta to enhance security safeguards in the agent-enabled workplace.
