According to sources familiar with the matter, OpenAI has decided to lease more AI servers from large cloud service providers instead of building its own data centers, and has appointed former Intel executive Sachin Katti as the new leader to oversee its 'Stargate' computing power plan. As part of the restructuring, OpenAI has divided its computing power infrastructure business into three teams: a data center technology design team, a business cooperation team (responsible for collaborating with cloud service providers and chip companies), and an on-site operations management team. The adjustments aim to address the growing demand for computing power and strengthen cooperation with cloud service providers and chip companies to meet the strategic goal of future gigawatt-scale server capacity.
