On March 10, news broke that NVIDIA (NVDA.O) is embarking on a fresh round of investment in the artificial intelligence startup, Thinking Machines Lab, and will supply chips to bolster the training and operation of its AI models. Thinking Machines was established by Mira Murati, a former executive at OpenAI. According to an announcement made on Tuesday, the two entities have forged a multi-year pact. Under this agreement, Thinking Machines will leverage NVIDIA's forthcoming Vera Rubin AI accelerator chips. These chips are anticipated to be deployed early next year and will furnish Thinking Machines with a minimum of 1 gigawatt of computing prowess. NVIDIA has kept mum on the specifics of the deal, refraining from detailing whether the investment will manifest as cash, chips, or a blend of both, merely noting that it constitutes a 'substantial' investment.
