India's Reliance Industries Invests $110 Billion to Advance AI Data Center Construction

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of India's Reliance Industries, announced that Reliance Industries and its telecommunications subsidiary, Jio, plan to invest $109.8 billion over the next seven years to build artificial intelligence and data infrastructure, with a focus on areas such as national-level AI computing power. Jio is currently constructing data centers tailored for artificial intelligence, with over 120 megawatts of computing power expected to be operational in the second half of this year. Additionally, it plans to build dedicated AI data centers powered by renewable energy. Previously, Adani Enterprises also announced plans to invest $100 billion by 2035 to construct AI data centers driven by renewable energy. Furthermore, U.S.-based OpenAI will become the first customer for data centers operated by Tata Consultancy Services, as Indian companies continue to ramp up their investments in the field of artificial intelligence.
