Recently, Arthur Mensch, CEO of French AI startup Mistral, stated that over 50% of the software currently used by enterprises could potentially be replaced by AI. Previously, investor optimism about the AI boom fueled a nearly three-year bull market in the U.S. stock market, but recent market sentiment has shifted toward concerns over AI's disruptive impact. Mensch pointed out that AI is developing software at lightning speed, and with the right infrastructure, enterprises can integrate their own data into AI systems to rapidly build customized applications that support business processes. Some clients have already developed AI applications for specific workflows within days, whereas five years ago, such needs typically required purchasing vertical SaaS products. Mensch defines the current trend as a "platform restructuring" process, with over 100 enterprise clients actively seeking to replace outdated IT systems, some of which have been in service for 20 years with rising operational and maintenance costs. AI is seen as a key pathway to achieving system efficiency and cost reduction. However, he also clearly distinguishes that foundational software responsible for data recording and management functions will not be replaced, as these systems typically operate in synergy with AI.
