Recently, a collaborative research team—led by Professor Wang Xingjun and Researcher Shu Haowen from Peking University’s School of Electronics, alongside Professor Wang Jian’s group at the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology—published a groundbreaking paper titled "Exploiting a centrally powered coherent microcomb for lightweight optical transmission" in the esteemed international journal Nature Communications. This work addresses the rapidly growing data traffic in cutting-edge domains such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and low-altitude intelligent systems, where exponential increases in data volumes are driving a paradigm shift from centralized cloud computing to distributed edge computing models.
