On Friday (local time), Elon Musk submitted legal filings to the court, asserting that he is pursuing damages of up to $134 billion from artificial intelligence (AI) startup OpenAI and its major shareholder, Microsoft. Musk contends that his early and substantial support of OpenAI has resulted in a situation of "unjust enrichment," and he is therefore entitled to appropriate compensation.
In the documents filed with the federal court, Musk highlighted that since co-founding OpenAI in 2015, his contributions have been instrumental in enabling OpenAI to accrue benefits estimated between $65.5 billion and $109.4 billion. Additionally, he pointed out that Microsoft has also reaped substantial advantages, with gains estimated in the range of $13.3 billion to $25.1 billion.
