Clem Delangue, co-founder and CEO of Hugging Face, asserted that the present landscape doesn't constitute an AI bubble. Instead, he refers to it as a "large language model bubble," one that might burst in the coming year. Nevertheless, he emphasized that such an event wouldn't impede the future progress of AI. Delangue highlighted that large language models are currently receiving excessive hype and are not universally applicable across all scenarios. Looking ahead, he anticipates that smaller, specialized models will gain greater preference. For instance, chatbots designed for bank customer service could leverage more compact, specialized models. Delangue conceded that the potential bursting of the large language model bubble could have some repercussions for Hugging Face, but he stressed that it wouldn't deliver a fatal blow. At present, Hugging Face has held onto half of the $400 million in funding it has secured and has implemented a more efficient capital strategy, with the goal of establishing a long-lasting, sustainable, and influential enterprise.
