Lambda, a prominent AI data center service provider, has declared the successful closure of a $1.5 billion funding round. This significant financing was spearheaded by TWG Global, a newly-formed investment firm co-founded by Thomas Tull and Mark Walter. TWG Global, which oversees a substantial $40 billion in assets, is dedicated to AI-centric investments and maintains a varied investment portfolio.

Lambda, which operates numerous AI data centers throughout the United States, faces stiff competition from CoreWeave. Moreover, Lambda offers 'AI factories' tailored for hyperscale cloud computing platforms. Earlier, Lambda inked a multi-billion-dollar cooperation pact with Microsoft to bolster AI infrastructure support.

Prior to this latest funding round, market analysts had been speculating about Lambda's fundraising strategies and the potential for an initial public offering (IPO). In February of the current year, Lambda concluded a $480 million Series D funding round, which valued the company at around $2.5 billion. The magnitude of this $1.5 billion funding round has significantly surpassed initial projections.
