OpenAI has accomplished a significant reorganization, streamlining its corporate framework. In this new setup, the non-profit arm maintains its supervisory role over the for-profit entity. Following the reorganization, the non-profit division has been rebranded as the OpenAI Foundation. Meanwhile, the for-profit segment now operates under the name OpenAI Group PBC (Public Benefit Corporation). The Foundation commands a 26% equity stake in OpenAI PBC and possesses the power to appoint and dismiss all board members. Microsoft's equity interest has seen a reduction, moving from 32% down to 27.5%. In exchange, Microsoft has secured a commitment to procure $250 billion worth of Azure cloud services, with this agreement remaining valid through 2032, and also gains access to AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) models. The remaining 47% of the shares are distributed among present and past OpenAI employees, as well as other investors.
