Early this morning, OpenAI made an announcement stating that it has successfully wrapped up its capital restructuring process, streamlining its corporate framework. The non-profit arm of OpenAI has now been rebranded as the OpenAI Foundation. This foundation will persist in its supervisory role over the for-profit entity, OpenAI Group PBC (which currently boasts an estimated valuation of around $130 billion). As the for-profit entity reaches specific valuation benchmarks, the foundation will be entitled to receive extra equity stakes. This will position it as one of the most well-resourced public welfare organizations on a global scale.
