On October 28, Microsoft released a statement, unveiling the signing of a fresh, conclusive agreement with OpenAI aimed at fortifying their collaborative ties. As part of this agreement, Microsoft is set to back OpenAI's board of directors in their pursuit of establishing a public benefit corporation and steering through its capital restructuring endeavors.
Post the capital restructuring, Microsoft's investment stake in OpenAI Group PBC is projected to soar to an estimated value of around $135 billion, accompanied by a diluted conversion ratio hovering around the 27% mark. The statement further highlighted that OpenAI retains the flexibility to co-develop specific products alongside third parties. In this context, API products will maintain exclusivity to the Azure platform, whereas non-API products will have the liberty to be distributed via any cloud service provider.
