Recently, Brian Chesky, the co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, made a public announcement stating that the current limitations of ChatGPT—namely, its insufficient stability and the incomplete development of its SDK—render it incapable of integrating its AI capabilities into the Airbnb platform at this time. Chesky elaborated that the ChatGPT model is a composite of 13 distinct chatbots, which significantly complicates the integration process. Moreover, he highlighted that travel applications impose stringent demands on model stability, data security, and system compatibility.

Presently, Airbnb is leveraging Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen model to deliver its services. The company has also introduced an AI-powered customer service agent, which has resulted in a 15% reduction in the demand for human customer service and has slashed the average processing time from nearly three hours to a mere six seconds.

Chesky noted that Airbnb will keep a close eye on the progress of ChatGPT's integration capabilities and may consider collaborating in the future. He further underscored that while the application of AI in the travel industry presents immense potential, several challenges must be overcome, including ensuring model stability, advancing SDK development, and fortifying data security measures.
