After a 19-year hiatus, the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) made its long-awaited return to the Chinese mainland. Amidst this significant event, Meituan took center stage by hosting the '2025 Academic Annual Conference of Meituan Robotics Institute'. During the conference, Mao Yinian, Vice President of Meituan, alongside other distinguished speakers, delivered insightful keynote addresses. They engaged in in-depth discussions on pressing topics, including the 'Commercialization of Embodied Intelligence'. Furthermore, corporate leaders convened for a roundtable forum, where they collectively delved into the 'first principles' underpinning the development of embodied intelligence.
Since its inception in 2022, Meituan Robotics Institute has been steadfast in its commitment to bolstering investments in pivotal areas, notably low-altitude logistics and embodied intelligence. The institute has achieved notable strides in the development and implementation of an intelligent obstacle avoidance system for drones, a collaborative effort with the IDEA Research Institute. Moreover, research findings on humanoid dexterous hands, conducted in tandem with universities, have garnered international acclaim, being accepted by top-tier conferences and poised for real-world applications.
The 'industry-academia-research-application' model adopted by the institute received commendation from experts at the conference. On the same day, the '3rd Low-Altitude Economy Intelligent Flight Management Challenge' reached a successful conclusion, drawing participation from 120 university teams. This year's competition introduced a novel 'offline hands-on final', featuring challenges that closely mirror the cutting-edge advancements in the industry. A relevant leader from Meituan remarked that this annual conference signifies a significant leap forward for the institute in advancing the industrialization of robotics technology. The institute aspires to forge a collaborative ecosystem, collectively charting a course for the future of service innovation.
