Foxconn Chairman Young Liu revealed that the company has held discussions with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI—the parent company behind ChatGPT—to assess possible avenues for collaboration. Moreover, Foxconn is set to engage in negotiations with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang later this month. This announcement sparked a robust market response, with Foxconn’s stock climbing 8% on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on Thursday, elevating its year-to-date growth to 21%. Recently, firms that have declared partnerships with either OpenAI or NVIDIA have witnessed substantial increases in their stock prices. Although Foxconn has not yet released precise details about these collaborations, the company is making a proactive transition toward high-growth sectors, including the manufacturing of AI servers. In the second quarter, revenue generated from AI servers outstripped that from smart consumer electronics, emerging as the principal driver of growth. It is anticipated that revenue from the AI server business will experience a year-on-year surge exceeding 170% this quarter.
