From September 23 to 25, 2025, Qualcomm, a prominent U.S.-based tech company, held its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit concurrently in Maui, Hawaii, and Beijing. During this significant event, Cristiano Amon, the President and CEO of Qualcomm, outlined six pivotal trends that are set to shape the future development of AI.

The first trend centers around user interfaces that prioritize human-centricity, with local processing occurring directly on the device side. This approach aims to enhance user experience by minimizing latency and ensuring data privacy through on-device processing.

Secondly, Amon highlighted a paradigm shift in user experience, moving away from smartphone-centricity towards AI agent-centricity. This transition implies that AI agents will play a more central role in facilitating and enhancing users' interactions with technology.

The third trend underscores the necessity for fundamental changes in computing architecture to support the evolving demands of AI. As AI models become more complex and resource-intensive, traditional computing architectures may need to be reimagined to ensure efficiency and scalability.

Fourthly, Amon pointed out the development of AI models towards hybridization. This trend suggests a blend of different AI techniques and algorithms to create more robust and versatile AI systems.

The fifth trend emphasizes the increasing relevance of edge-side data. With the proliferation of IoT devices and the need for real-time data processing, leveraging edge-side data becomes crucial for enhancing AI's responsiveness and accuracy.

Lastly, Amon mentioned that 6G will serve as a vital bridge connecting the cloud and the edge, facilitating the construction of a perception-enabled intelligent network. This network will enable seamless communication and data exchange between various devices and platforms, paving the way for a more interconnected and intelligent future.

Amon also disclosed that Qualcomm has already embarked on 6G R&D efforts, with the first batch of pre-commercial 6G terminals anticipated to make their debut as early as 2028. Furthermore, Qualcomm showcased a new generation of chip products tailored for PCs, along with innovative offerings such as data center CPUs and AI accelerators. Notably, its flagship smartphone SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, made its official appearance at the summit.
