Mustafa Suleyman, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft's AI division, announced that the company is set to transform the Edge browser into an 'agent browser.' Within this enhanced browser, the integrated AI assistant, Copilot, will have the capability to manage tabs, navigate websites, and accomplish tasks under the watchful eye of the user. This includes functionalities such as opening tabs, simultaneously reading content from multiple webpages, performing real-time transparent searches, and directly visiting websites in a manner that safeguards the traffic of content publishers. Presently, Copilot already boasts features like tab navigation. Suleyman envisions that within the next few years, AI assistants will assume responsibility for the bulk of browsing tasks, with users merely required to offer oversight and feedback.
