On September 23, reports from overseas media outlets revealed that NVIDIA has unveiled a strategic plan to inject up to $100 billion into OpenAI. This substantial investment aims to bolster OpenAI's ambitious endeavor to construct large-scale artificial intelligence data centers. As per the terms of the agreement, OpenAI is set to deploy a minimum of 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA's systems, which will encompass millions of GPUs. These systems will be pivotal in training and operating next-generation AI models. NVIDIA's equity stake in OpenAI will incrementally grow in tandem with the deployment of these systems, with the entire investment being facilitated through cash transactions. The initial phase of this infrastructure accord is slated to commence operations in the latter half of 2026, marking the introduction of NVIDIA's cutting-edge 'Vera Rubin' chip system.
