Recently, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a globally acclaimed semiconductor foundry, has officially announced the successful completion of its acquisition of Synopsys’ ARC processor IP solutions business. Concurrently, the original core technical team from Synopsys ARC has been seamlessly integrated into GLOBALFOUNDRIES. This strategic acquisition encompasses a comprehensive range of products, including the classic ARC CPU, the RISC-V-based ARC-V CPU, the ARC VPX-DSP, and the ARC NPX NPU product lines, along with the ASIP Designer and ASIP Programmer tools. The primary objective of this acquisition is to bolster GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ full-process service capabilities in the realm of Physical AI, thereby empowering customers in the automotive electronics, industrial, IoT, and other sectors to expedite product development and facilitate a swift market launch.
