On August 6, Ideal Auto, in conjunction with the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) and Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile, issued a joint statement addressing the public interest surrounding the crash test involving the Ideal i8 and a vehicle from Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile's Chenglong brand. The statement underscored a unified stance among the three parties regarding the test's objectives, procedures, and subsequent measures. They clarified that the test was exclusively designed to assess the Ideal i8's passive safety capabilities and was not intended to target any other brand. Furthermore, they apologized for any controversy that may have arisen, affecting Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile's public image.
CATARC acknowledged shortcomings in its communication strategy and committed to enhancing its test management protocols to prevent future misunderstandings. The trio collectively emphasized the importance of upholding industry self-regulation and fostering an environment conducive to healthy competition and cooperation within the automotive sector.
