According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the retail market share of new energy vehicles (NEVs) hit 20.5% in May, marking a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percentage points. Among the leading players, Xiaomi Motors, XPeng, Leapmotor, and Hongmeng Intelligent Mobility distinguished themselves, collectively accounting for an additional 5.8 percentage points of market growth. In parallel, the share of independent NEV brands originating from traditional domestic automakers stood at 12.5%, remaining stable year-on-year, with standout performances from brands like SL Auto and AITO. This data underscores a notable divergence in the trends observed among NEV manufacturers.
